I would not be mad at all. He is a guy I hope would last until pick #63, but I doubt it. He or Winfrey would be just fine at #31 if we do not got a top guy falling. There is better overall depth at CB/S than 3T. Beyond Wyatt, Hall, and Winfrey, a pass rushing DT is gonna be hard to find.
For me, I want to get a starter, or a guy who will play a lot, with #31. For me, that means IOL, CB, or 3T. Starters are locked at QB, RB, WR, OT, NT, DT, and S. Likely TE and DE as well. LB is borderline. Pratt & Wilson were great in the POs, and Wilson started off well, but there were a lot of struggles in between.
If we buy Hill starting helps our LBs because he has better gap integrity, then I doubt we take a LB at #31. But if Dean or Lloyd slides to us, I'd really have to think about it. Elite LBs can still make a difference, look at Parsons.
I. Best Case Scenario.
A starter level/top tier guy at a position of need falls to us.
Linderbaum. Zion Johnson. McDuffie. Wyatt.
If this does not happen, then we have a decision to make.
II. Plan B.
Take a second tier guy at a position of need: Kenyon Green, Tyler Smith, Booth, Elam, Gordon, McCreary, Winfrey, Hall.
III. Plan C.
Take a top tier guy (if one is there) at another position we don't need as badly: S, LB, TE, DE. Hall, Pitre, Cine, Dean, Lloyd, McBride, Ojabo, maybe Ebiketie?
If we choose Plan B, trading down makes a ton of sense. Plan C, not as much, unless multiple guys are out there.
