Waller did nothing his first three years in the league (total of 18 receptions), but if you compare his average over his last 3 seasons to Boyds last 4 seasons you will see that they are pretty close.
Boyd.....78 rec... 936 yds...12.0 avg...5.3 td...67.8 catch%...8.1 yd/target
Waller...84 rec...1002 yds...11.9 avg...4.7 td...71.0 catch%...8.5 yd/target
But there are a couple of areas where Boyd is far ahead of Waller. Over the last 4 seasons only 3 players have more receptions than Tyler Boyd on 3rd/4th down and only 4 players have converted more first downs. Over Waller's best three seasons he ranks 22nd in 3rd/4th down receptions and 25th in first downs. Also Waller's drop rate is 50% higher than Boyd's (3.9% to 2.6%)
Comparing a TE production to a WR is silly.
23 WRs had 1,000 yards last year to just 3 tight ends.
Having an elite TE that can single hand idly take over a game is far more valuable than a 3rd WR.
