My observations of Volson through this Preseason Game 2:
I did not watch every single snap, and I didn't stop and rewind to look at things closely, but I was focusing specifically on him for about every offensive snap I did watch, which was over 3 quarters worth.
I can see him starting at LG if the Bengals don't bring anyone else in, and I can see him doing some good things, but I really do see him being a below average starter for a while.
Personally, this game solidified my desire to get a veteran to hold down the LG spot while Volson continues development.
EDIT - One other positive thing I forgot to mention is I do see some push off the LOS in the run game. He does go down a lot to block low, but that might be coaching.
- He doesn't seem to get pushed back very often. Solid anchor.
- He looked like the best OL out there for the Bengals (the other depth OL are terrible though).
- His lack of athleticism has been apparent at times. Not very good at blocking into the second level.
- He still has more to learn when it comes to block assignments. Had some clear mental errors, which resulted in big pressures/sacks.

Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
Sorry for Party Rocking!
