The Bengals did do all of what you mentioned.
They earned getting to the Super Bowl.
The only thing the doubters can speculate is that they won't perform to that same level now that they're playing a tougher schedule this year.
But the Bengals do look better on paper this year than last year, and they were able to get to the Super Bowl.
No reason to think they couldn't do the same this year if things go well.
