There just wasn't enough time for route development for the receivers or to wait for one to break coverage.

Here's the tweet I saw breaking the play down. I thought the same as you before seeing this but now it looks like a failure mainly on Mixon and Burrow. Even though the line broke down but still did enough to work.

Poor individual pass protection
The RB looks lost in protection which highlights communication/preparation as a whole for blocking unit.
Burrow is sped up because he's worried he will get crushed.
