Yes, it does. There is a universe where a player may have played a really good game, as much as you could ask of him, but the guy/guys on the other side just played that much better. Alternatively, as an example, a defensive back may play poorly but for whatever reason the offense fails to take advantage of it. That defensive back didn't have a great day just because it wasn't exploited. He just got lucky.
