They were playing it smart. Be the last team with the ball and score. It's just the 3rd down call came up inches short. If Dunlop doesn't shoot the gap, or if someone bothered to block him, it would have been a TD on the 4th down call.
No, being the worst team on 4th down and failing, again, is a worse move than kicking the FG. Take the points, stop them on D. If we were not stopping them on D, then why bother going for a TD if you assume they are going to go right down and score right afterwards. As you saw, they didn't get far. Scared money.
