History Bengals v Niners
#6
(12-20-2015, 01:44 PM)fredtoast Wrote: The Bengals have a lower winning percentage (.214) against the Niners than any other team in the league.  In addition to the two Super Bowl losses the bengals are just 3-9 against them in the regular season (1-5 away, 2-4 home).  However after losing 9 in a row from 1978 to 2003 the Bengals have won 2 of the last four meetings.

I suspect that 9 game losing streak is associated with Bill Walsh, and his experience with the Bengals prior to then. If anyone had a leg up on beating us, it would be him. Since then our record is comparable to our success with the rest of the league overall. Despite our setback with injuries, this is still one of the best teams we've ever fielded. And the bulk of the current players have no 'hangover' from our early failings against the Niners. I look at today's game as a blank sheet of paper. Looking forward.
Some say you can place your ear next to his, and hear the ocean ....
