Agreed, it takes the right back as well as perfectly orchestrated blocking, in order to successfully execute the Wide Zone.  Every time I see Mixon do that little stutter step, my gut tells me that the play is likely going nowhere forward.  He just doesn't have the vision, anticipation and burst off of the cut.  He's much more of a 'point and shoot' type of back, explosive out of his stance and hitting the hole directly.
