Positional value/Draft approach
#12
I was looking on sportrac at the contracts for DTs to get an idea of what Reader may be looking at next year. There are not many at his level of play and signing their contract after 29 years old. Javon Hargrave recently signed a 4/$84mill with an aav of $21 mill. Dalvin Tomlinson signed a 4/$57 mill with an aav of $14.25 mill. Reader should be able to match Hargrave or come close. I really don't see a situation where they can re-sign him with all the other big contracts coming up.

So, I guess this is a very long winded explanation as to why I would not be surprised to see Mazi Smith as the selection. The Bengals will not be able to afford the market for a comparable free agent replacement, so it will have to come via the draft. Reader is a huge part of this D's success and having his heir ready to go will be an important step in keeping things rolling.

Fueled by satanism, violence, and sodomy, dinosaurs had little chance to survive as a species.
