I also remember how awful our TEs were last year without Hurst on the field and the only change they made was replacing Hurst with a guy who missed more games in his first 4 seasons than Tyler Eifert. TE now is going to be an absolute drain on the offense's ability in 2023 anytime they're on the field.
Wasn't Hendrickson playing pretty good before the broken wrist? Now we have two pretty good, young players to rotate and keep Sam and Trey fresh. Plus they potentially fill the need when those two's contracts expire. Calculated move, imo. They're going to have to pay bank to keep the band together on offense. Their best strategy with that in mind is to have effective players on defense on rookie deals.
