A 3 year 12 million dollar contract doesn't scream guaranteed starter to me, it'll be interesting to see who comes out on top in camp.
Also with these longer seasons plus playoff pushes, injuries happen. Depth is a good thing, Quality depth is a great thing.
I do not understand why people keep relating the signing of Scott to the draft of Battle at all. The Bengals brought in Scott because they did not know how the draft would play out. The contract is very reasonable for a safety and it certainly is not a contract that would keep them from bringing him off the bench.
