I think it is fair criticism. His consensus prospect ranking was un-draftable, well into the 400s. However, he was also a late 7th round pick. They took a flyer on him. If he doesn't work out (likely) then it is minimal investment. The inverse is obviously great value. I don't get too up in arms over 7th rounders.
