Current state of the Roster: 2023 FA
#65
(05-02-2023, 02:24 PM)ochocincos Wrote: This is my projected 53 barring any injuries and the season started today.

QB (2) - Burrow, Browning
RB (4) - Mixon, *Brown, Williams, Evans
TE (3) - Smith, Sample, Asiasi
WR (7) - Chase, Higgins, Boyd, Irwin, *Jones, *Iosivas, Morgan
OT (4) - Brown, Williams, Carman, Ford
OG (3) - Cappa, Volson, ^Scharping
OC (2) - Karras, Hill
^I could see Scharping getting the axe potentially if/when Collins returns, as they have multiple OTs who can play OG if needed

DE (6) - Hendrickson, Hubbard, Ossai, *Murphy, Sample, ^Basham
DT (4) - Hill, Reader, Carter, Tupou
LB (5) - Pratt, Wilson, ADG, Bailey, Bachie
SAF (4) - Hill, Scott, *Battle, Anderson
CB (6) - Awuzie, CTB, Hilton, *Turner, Jones, Davis
^I could also see Bengals going 5 DE and 5 DT, keeping Tufele instead

K (1) - McPherson
LS (1) - Adomitis
P (1) - *Robbins

We are almost in complete agreement. One different at WR, OT, DE, DT.

QB (2): Burrow; Browning
RB (4): Mixon; C. Brown, T. Williams, Evans
WR (6): Chase, Higgins, Boyd; C. Jones, Iosivas, Morgan.
TE (3): I. Smith; D. Sample, Asiasi
OT (4): O. Brown, J. Williams; Carman, Adeniji (Collins on PUP)
OG (4): Cappa, Volson; Scharping, Ford (OG/OT)
C (2): Karras; T. Hill

Collins starts on PUP, allowing Adeniji to make the roster. I have Ford as both the #4 OT and #4 OG. I think Scharping is safe as OG#3. Adeniji & Carman cannot play guard, at all. Ford is bad, but they are worse. I only keep 6 WRs. Irwin did not make the final roster in 2022 or 2021. I think he battles with Morgan for the last spot. If Iosivas shows good ST/blocking development, Morgan goes, but if the route running is good, it will be Irwin. If other guys can take over the Morgan role on ST (Battle, Anderson) then maybe Irwin stays too. He is the better receiver.  I am tempted to say Jackson flat out takes the Morgan spot, but I am not sure there is a Morgan spot.

DE (5): Hendrickson, Hubbard; Murphy, Ossai, C. Sample
NT/DT (5): Reader, BJ Hill; Tupou, Carter, Tufele
LB (5): Wilson, Pratt; ADG, Bailey, Bachie
CB (6): Awuzie, CTB, Hilton; Turner, S. Jones, J. Davis
S (4): Scott, D. Hill; Battle, Anderson

I think we want 3 guys whi can play nose on the 53, but if we think Tufele has a better chance to pass waivers than Basham, then maybe the other way. Mike Thomas is the other cruelist cut, but he passed waivers last year.

PK: McPherson
P: Robbins
LS: Adomitis
KR: T. Williams, C. Jones, Evans
PR: C. Jones
Holder: Robbins

Practice Squad (if no one gets claimed):
1. Basham, DE (Vet #1)
2. Thomas, S (Vet #2)
3. Irwin, WR (Vet #3)
4. Taylor, WR (Vet #4)
5. Gunter, DE
6. Ivey, CB
7. George, CB
8. Jackson, WR
9. Smith, OT
10. Kirkland, OG
11. B. Brown, C/G
-------------------
12. QB (not on roster yet)
13. Best camp RB (Saylors)
14. Best camp DT (Maxwell)
15. Best LB (K. Jones, Vet #5)
16. Best TE (Bowers, Vet #6)

I think Wilcox will be re-signed and make the roster, and bump Asiasi down to the PS. Not happened yet.

15 competing for PS spots:
1. Tyler, RB
2. Lassiter, WR
3. Hudson, TE
4. Trahan, TE
5. Cochrane, OT
6. Gilliam, OG/C
7. Johnson III, DE
8. Carney, DE
9. D. Davis, DT
10. Moody, LB
11. Heyward, LB
12. Tell III, CB
13. Corker, S
14. Brooks, S
15. Chrisman, P

I am sure some of our last cuts/PS guys will get claimed and some of these guys will make it.
