Also blocking back's are important in this offense, but they've started Mixon all these years and he is the worse blocker in the room so that can't be the (main) issue with Evans.
Trayveon Williams has just 1 fumble across 55 touches in the NFL.
In college, Williams had 7 fumbles (4 lost) across 666 touches.
Chase Brown had 8 fumbles (3 lost) across 735 touches in college.
Compare that to Chris Evans, who had 4 fumbles (2 lost) on 369 touches in college. Evans' fumble rate is basically the same as Chase Brown.
If ball security is the concern, I don't find Evans to be much better than either Williams or Brown.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
