I'm not even sure why they'd negotiate anything now. If any other player got injured three times, they'd be cut. It's time to tell Joe that he better come back soon enough to put up good numbers and ask him which teams he would most like to be traded to. There's way too much risk to expect him to play a significant number of games for any long-term deal.
