You left out the part were the pass rush up the middle got home so fast that Joe was getting nailed as soon as he planted to throw.

On this one, Boyd was never exactly wide open, because as soon as Joe plants, McCreary comes off his guy and takes Boyd. The ball might have been overthrown, but Boyd didn't go sideline anyway.
