Running Outside

Is it really a lack of speed?  When I watch him try to run to the edge, he appears to me to do what I call a 'wide zone stutter' step, like he's trying to pick a gap to cut up into, before getting to the edge.  Either way it's frustrating to watch, and was refreshing to see the young back hitting the holes with quickness and fully committing to getting around the corner on outside runs.
