If you have money to lose, then gamble, because odds are you are going to lose. I follow the Nipsey Russell poem : " For those of you that gamble, I have this advice to say. The best way to double your money, is to fold it and put it away. "
I tried the new Ohio sports gambling 2 NFL weeks last year and first week this year. I lost 35 dollars in week one. I did the math on if I lost that much 18 weeks in a row, and I could think of better ways to spend my money. Plus I didn't think the Hollywood Casino I was driving to was all that fun, more of a drag. I refuse to do money transactions on internet sites due to crooks around the world who do nothing but identity theft for a living.
I do enjoy Fantasy Sports for no money, and I do have reason to pay attention. Not everything has to be about gambling for money. For me at 69 years old on a fixed income, it keeps me up on Who is Who in todays sports, as opposed to old timers talking about players from 50 years ago. Fantasy keeps me up on the hottest players of the month in baseball basketball, football. I don't like losing money, and people who hate losing money like me should not gamble. Another old timers saying, " Save your money and buy ice cream ".
I see old people my age who gamble, but if they lose they are broke all month. Me, I'm never broke or waiting for 1st of month because I save my money. You probably aren't old and have no idea what I'm talking about, but I like having thousands tucked away, but I wouldn't have them if I became a gambler.
Made You Cry just won Bengals Board NFL Championship. There was no money prize. Still, those of us that played think winning the season is pretty good, and we all very much paid attention each week.
I respect all of that.
Just to be clear, I don't have a lot of spare money to bet away (I get disability), but I do have a little spending cash that I win in poker.
