Smith was signed to a cheap 1-Year contract. Nick was paid a little more, but he'll cost us $2 Mil in dead Cap (saving $2.3 MIL) in cap this year.

It's not so much about the cost as it was the complete swing and miss in quality of player during a Super Bowl window. 

They signed these guys to be starters on a Super Bowl caliber team, remember.
