I just never get a chance to list him in a mock, as he's always off the board well before #18, but if by some chance he were, he would be a BPA too big to ignore for the need at RT and NT.
According to NFLDraftBuzz, they have Newton with an average overall draft ranking of 18.4.
This ranking is determined from all scouting services in their database.
So it's possible he falls to the Bengals at 18.
With TheDraftNetwork not showing as many prospects on their site as years past, I've started to use NFLDraftBuzz to get familiar with a full list of prospects.
Bengals should be able to come away with one of the following:
- Bowers (unlikely but TEs do fall)
- Newton
- Murphy
- Latham
- Fuaga
- Thomas Jr
If ALL of those guys are off the table, I could see the Bengals either taking one of these guys at 18 or trading back later in the 1st round hoping to get one:
- Mims (too much of a gamble for me, personally)
- Guyton
- AD Mitchell
- Sweat (would be reach at 18 IMO)
I don't think CB is in consideration in Rd 1 at all unless there's a dominant guy there and the rest of the table is so much lower on their board.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
