If you watch Burton's TD last night, it was another outside down the sideline route. All of his big plays have been the same route. He isnt showing a diversity of route running. He has basically been a one trick pony. That may work in preseason against 3rd and 4th stringers but he has to show more than that in regular season. There is a reason Burton is down in the depth chart and Taylor is putting him in the games so late. If I had to guess I would think Burton isnt grasping the playbook and his routes like Taylor expects him to.
I think you are underestimating Burton's route running. Your assumption is based on his reps with a backup OL. Also, a backup QB and it seemed Zac kept the offense vanilla by design. You may be correct, but I want to see Burton running routes with the 1st team. Separation is tough in the NFL, but Burton seems to have the speed and quickness to get separation.
I am so ready for 2024 season. I love pro football and hoping for a great Bengals year. Regardless, always remember it is a game and entertainment.
