He's not a safety that can hols down single high coverage like Bates did. Square peg round hole. He's really never been a boundary corner until this year. Square peg, rounder hole.
The team drafted him as a BPA athlete. He bears responsibility, but they're done a poor job of getting him into a position to succeed.
The Bengals likely never planned to use Dax primarily as a starting boundary Corner when they Drafted him as a Safety in 2022.
Dax showed an elite level ability to Blitz in College with 4.38 speed. His blitzing is what really stood out on Film.
The Bengals Organization has chosen to rely on Dax as a boundary Corner starter for 2024 which to me makes it all on them.
The Patriots receivers are not as formidable as many other receiver Groups in the NFL that Dax will be seeing as the year progresses.
Hopefully Dax can build up with experience at the position game by game in 2024 and become more of an asset by Playoff time.
The Bengals had the offseason to maybe do something different here but chose to go with the Group of Corners they have now.
An Achilles Heel decision for a Team wanting a Super Bowl run ? -OR- Will Bengal decision makers end up looking smart here ?
