It's definitely a recurring theme with Joe ....and he's been injured, appendix, COVID, so it's not black and white. Is that the reason for his slow starts, or is it just the way he operates? If he can't stay healthy one full year, we may never know. 

It seems there are variations across the league on how teams approach the preseason. I must admit I was shocked to find Detroit, with Dan Campbell's reputation, was a team that didn't play starters. McVay used to not play them,  but did this year. 

The thing that was wild about Sunday was Joe wasn't his usual super diagnostic self. What I mean about effecting the entire team is the offense is built around him, and runs through him. I think the defense is built to play with a lead too. He's that critical to the Bengals success.
