Playing this year healthy will give Burrow psychological oxygen (a breather) from dings, Rehab, and injuries. He needs a healthy year badly. Let's look at Burrow's injury history the last few years...That would be great, but I'm not so sure he's fully healed from the wrist injury yet.
-hand/wrist: injuries in 2017, 2021, & 2023.
-Ribs: 2020 during national championship game.
-knees: MCL/ACL/PCL & meniscus tear 2020; grade 1 knee strain 2022, grade 2 MCL strain 2022
-calf: probably grade 2-3 strain in 2023.
These prior injuries are a lot to deal with, even for the Superman QB in Burrow. Injuries accumulate psychological toil and the athlete begins to doubt his or her career in the sport. I believe prior injuries are affecting his play early in the season. Pervasive doubt is the death knell for an athlete in sports. Burrow needs to believe that health is possible. It would be nice and go a long way if Burrow can play the entire season relatively healthy from major injury. It would be even greater if the Bengals to make it back and win the Super Bowl. But the best case scenario is for the Bengals to win the Super Bowl with a healthy Burrow.
