It's quite possible the NFL called the team and apologized without having a news conference to announce it.

You have a good point, there. I haven't seen the NFL office issue a public statement about officials making an error, unlike the NBA which does make that kind of report. I have seen plenty of public statements from NFL teams' front offices and coaches that they received an apology, as well as reports attributed to NFL teams' front offices. To whom or what are the reports about the Gesicki fumble attributed? No team official or coach to date has spoken up.

The reason it would be interesting to know whether or not this apology is true or not is because this was a huge overturn in the game. They are supposed to have conclusive evidence to overturn a call on the field. And it also would be good to know why the NFL decided this was or was not considered a fumble/TD.
