Short answer, because Andy Dalton was taken at #35 overall with our second pick of the draft and Joe Burrow was taken #1 overall and we likely turned down the chance to get 2+ 1st round picks if we were willing to take the second QB off the board instead of him.

I'm glad we have Burrow and all but even jokingly comparing him to Dalton isn't grand.
