I'm going to be incredibly disappointed to see them ignore signing a RH power bat for a second straight offseason. Santander, short of the pipe dream of Soto, is the best they could do in free agency. He'd hit 50 bombs, play every day, and hold down a corner outfield spot all year.
This year was only the 2nd time he hit even 30+ HRs and both times he hit 30+ HR he hit 25 or less doubles, hit .240 or less, and had an OBP under .320.... so he's giving up a lot of everything else to hit 30+.
Machado hit his 3 best season totals of HRs in Baltimore.
Nelson Cruz was juicing, but he hit more HR in Baltimore than he ever did in Texas which is considered a HR hitting friendly park.
There were people who had this idea that all of Candelario's doubles would turn into HRs here so he'd hit a ton with the Reds. Yet he ended up with just 20 HRs.

I don't trust O'Neill, I am pretty sure he's a Great Value Brand Adam Dunn. Swing hard for a HR, take a walk, strike out a ton. Except at least Dunn also hit doubles, walked at an even higher rate, and was consistently and reliably above average offensively. O'Neill is only above average offensively once every three years.

Teoscar Hernandez' low amount of walks and high strikeout rate worries me, but he does hit for both average and power. So I would probably go with him.
Also snag Joc Pederson to DH as well so we don't hit .203/.264/.326 (.589) again at the DH spot as a team with scrubs like Mike Ford, Amed Rosario, Noelvi Marte, and others getting games there. I swear to god the Reds don't understand what the DH is for. You're given a position whose only job is hitting and not fielding, so they put the lightest hitting guys they can find in there and bat them 7th or 8th to just piss it away.

Agreed, but probably was always way outside our price range and I think the only chance of him leaving New York was if the Mets missed the playoffs. I think as soon as they made it (and then won the Wildcard series no less) he is going to get re-signed by them.
