We'll have to see how McLachlan does in the role. I doubt he'll be anywhere near as good of a run blocker, but hopefully he can perform that role well enough to justify not giving Gesicki any run blocking snaps.
For what it's worth, his NFL draft profile does say that he has "Active hand work after contact to extend his block sustain," and he "puts in the work to get backside cut-offs and climb to the linebacker." So that's something :)
And keeping Hudson was very good move, he played very well last season when given reps, actually graded out well in run blocking... McLachlan hoping can fill in some also..
