You can't just say "anyone over 30, im not extending". You need to look at each case in a vaccum. Roster construction, position, how the player is playing, injury history, etc. all come into play.
It's also not 1995. Players are playing and being productive longer than ever and are taking care of their bodies more than ever. The science behind recovry, injury prevention, and body maintenance has evolved massivly.
Not saying we should/shouldn't do it with Trey, but there have been a lot of cases of guys playing into their 30s who has been VERY productive. Henry, Zeitler, Calias Cambell, Whitworth, Trent Williams, etc.
Not extending guys over 30...also puts more of a premium on drafting and scouting.
These are double-edged swords.
