Trading Stars to Rebuild: A case study

We all see how great the Lions are. Well how did they get some of these players? A: By trading Stafford.

Lions gained:
QB Jared Goff
WR Jameson Williams (first round, 12th overall)
RB Jahmyr Gibbs (first round, 12th overall)
TE Sam LaPorta (second round, 34th overall)
DL Josh Paschal (second round, 46th overall)
DT Brodric Martin (third round, 96th overall)
DB Ifeatu Melifonwu (third round, 101st overall)

How good would the Bengals look if they traded Tee Higgins for a 2nd and 3rd Round pick and drafted LaPorta at TE and a CB or DT in the 3rd?

Instead, we're likely to lose Tee for a compensatory pick.

Maybe, it's better to trade these guys in lost seasons...

No one trading a 2nd and 3rd for Higgins bruh.
The more likely reality is Bengals got offered lower and Mike Brown decided it best to just let him walk for a comp instead.

It's the QBs who get the big returns.

Now, if you were talking about trading Burrow, I bet he'd bring a huge haul.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!
