If the Bengals had won some and lost some against these teams currently sitting in the playoff seeding, I'd be more inclined to say they could compete if in the playoffs.

However, they haven't won a single one, which instead tells me they just aren't quite good enough to beat those teams, which means they're in that 12-18 range in terms of team rankings.

Maybe they've made some changes during the Bye that will start bucking that trend against PIT and DEN.
