Possible Zac Taylor replacements
(Yesterday, 07:50 PM)TheLeonardLeap Wrote: -Curry I don't think I want a Inside Linebacker Coach to suddenly make the jump to having to build, lead, and playcall for a whole defense.
-Hamilton is Curry but not even a full linebacker coach, but an ASSISTANT linebacker coach.
-Manuel hasn't been a DC for 6 years and he's progressively actually getting WORSE jobs. He went from DC to DB Coach to Safety Coach.
-Jack Del Rio was at least recently a DC, but he was the DC of the 32nd ranked scoring defense and then got fired mid-season while being CHECKED OUT.

If we're talking just a DC to go with Zac staying here (bleh)....

We need someone with recent DC experience because Joe Burrow's career clock is ticking and we can't waste it finding out if guys can jump to Assistant LB Coach or Inside LB Coach to DC. For the same reason that DC experience needs to be successful. So I think we need to try to steal a successful college DC.

Joe Rossi from MSU

I will say for a potential NFL candidate: Robert Saleh. Failed as a HC, but also can't deny the Jets defense got pretty damn good while he was there and got a lot worse once he left.

There will be a number of upgrades available if they don’t step outside of the league to fill the position. Many failed HC’s that ran great defenses. I hope they are willing to explore all options. They did look at college DC’s in the 2019 search.
