I do agree, but it isn't just relying on the offense to make a mistake. It's easier to defend the red zone, so long as you can stuff the run. I think this is what they (Bengals staff) mean about playing complementary football. If the defense can hold them to at least three, and get just a handful of stops/TOs they trust the offense to get seven. That's not working anymore.
