It's not a Dead-Cat Bounce because the Bengals still have a shot at the playoffs with three games to play: Colts and Dolphins lose 1 game of the next three, Broncos lose all three (one against the Bengals, one against KC, and one against the Chargers), and the Bengals win out (Browns, Broncos, and Steelers -- who may be sitting their starters for the last game). This is actually possible. And if the Bengals get in the playoffs, anything is possible.
Even if they were out of it, we have three players leading their positions: Burrow, Chase, and Hendrickson. It's just flat-out joy to watch them play football and root for them to lead the league.
And the Bengals have drafted high throughout their history and done generally very poor at it. Look at the draft where they selected John Ross and who they passed on that year (2017). Steelers have had 21 straight non-losing season, so they generally draft late, and still are leading the division this year, and draft well (they took TJ Watt with the 30th pick in the draft the Bengals selected Ross 9th). The Chiefs always draft late and find gems. So, after over 50 years of rooting for the Bengals, its hard to start look forward to the draft in place of the current enjoyment of the games.
