Someone suggested they military drones and were being used for to search for something you would not want to make known is lost in those heavily populated areas.
Another suggested that as they were only being seen at night, they we looking for something more easily visible during the night.
I have a tough time seeing them as Space Force, as they would use completely different propulsion in space, unless you are suggesting they are for searching out other planets and/or moons?
Regardless, they are the source of tons of speculation.
