Those are the guarantees. Don't think Grandy will be around either, but you never know.
And I will actually say that we DO need 5, because the position is now used so much in our scheme, we've had 4 TEs on the active gameday roster for nearly 2 full seasons now and 4 on the 53 for almost 3 full seasons now: it's a position we use fairly frequently.
So many of our TEs are one sided Sample & Grandy are blockers. Gesicki and Hudson pass catchers. All is the only guy who can do both, and his injury issues mean you can't count on him.
I have no idea about McLachlan.
You need 2 blocking TEs in some sets. And no backup to Gesicki to catch passes is risky if he gets dinged.
I don't see us going lower than four. If we do, it will because get another guy who can do both things well.
The position where we have too many is safety. Anderson AND Anthony never play.
