All was the complete TE that we were hoping for, and he was blocking really well and his route tree was expanding. It is not a surprise to see him injure the same knee running a route. I think he planted to make a cut.
Offensive positions which require planting and cutting suddenly (RB and Pass catchers) have the greatest challenge in coming back from ACLs.
So when he comes back, I'm afraid he will be one dimensional, or very limited route tree.
Yep agreed.
If McLachlan ends up being in the mix in any way, Bengals need to add 1 TE this offseason.
If Bengals aren't too keen yet whether McLachlan is good enough to make the roster, they need to add 2 TEs instead.
In my head, I'd love to re-sign Gesicki but also add Tyler Warren.
In a more realistic state of mind though, I'd love to add Warren or Loveland if Gesicki doesn't re-sign. If Gesicki does re-sign, I'd still potentially look for another TE on Day 3 to compete with Gandy/McLachlan.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
