Sounds like speculation.
-They released Nick Scott and traded Joe Mixon on March 13th last year.
-In 2022 they released Trey Hopkins on March 18th, Trae Waynes on March 21st, and Fred Johnson on March 22nd.
-In 2021 they released Geno Atkins and Bobby Hart on March 19th and Giovani Bernard on April 7th.
-In 2020 they released Cordy Glenn on March 13th, John Miller and BW Webb on March 18th, and Dre Kirkpatrick on March 31st.... of course then they waited to release Andy Dalton until after the draft April 30th because they already benched him on his Birthday the year before, so what's another kick while he's down?
-In 2019 they released Vontaze Burfict on March 18th.
All those people in the Taylor era (besides Dalton, because F him apparently) were released well before the draft. It's generally considered "good form" to release players early enough that they have a chance at signing with other teams while everyone still has cap space left before they spend most of it in FA.
