2025 Salary Cap
#24
(Yesterday, 11:58 AM)rfaulk34 Wrote: It's pretty simple regarding Tee. He's going to get more than the most recent top #2, which is Jalen Waddle. He makes $28M APY. You can talk injuries and all that BS but it's about what the market bears. Chase is in line for 40M per and Tee is in line for 28M bare minimum. More than likely 30M.

It's not about the APY because that's never the cap hit number. It's about structure and doing what you can to make sure the hit isn't massive any single year. If you wanna play like the big boys, you gotta pay like the big boys. Figure out how to get these contracts done in ways you've resisted before. Or simply STFU and just say 'we can't afford all this' and go back to being a nothing franchise.

Great point about average per year (APY), many don't realize the cap number based on cash needed at signing and not overall contract that is not guaranteed. The dillemma for the Bengals with Tee is first they must decide, is Tee woth 29 or 30 million per year with his injury history. Bengals have planty of cap space to sign him, but do they value him over possible signing 2 great OG's for the same 29 to 30 million. Then use cuts for the guys you mentioned to shore up the DL and WR2.

I think the team has a huge decision to make. They will spend the money, how is best way to spend it. Can they tag Tee and trade him for multiple picks in 2025 including a possible 1st round to a team like Pats, Commandors, Broncos or others? I have been back and forth, but I feel for 28 to 30 million APY, we are better served to use the money to shore up 2 positions and then with the added picks, shore up the future with team friendly draft paicks who can develop into great starters in net couple of years. That would be following the KC model and what they did with Tyrek Hill.

Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!
