All of these "trade" and "tag and trade" and sign a vet free agent ideas are all a major risk. There's no guarantee the guys that we would get in the draft or free agency are going to actually come here and make the team better. Hell, how many threads have we seen talking about how bad the Bengals drafts have been outside of getting Higgins, Burrow and Chase?
There's no way I would trade him for picks. There's also no way I'd let him go and then "hope" a veteran WR comes in and fills his shoes. Coaches talk about systems. Zac's system has always been heavily reliant on 2 WRs. Some teams use 2 TEs etc. I have no problem paying Tee for a couple of reasons:
1. We know what we have
2. The cap is going up 20-million per year
For those that think we can spend the money and fix the problems on our defense and o-line, we can do that even with signing Tee. It's not like we are going to go out and bring in Trey Smith and a bunch of other Tier 1 free agents. Sign our own, fill in the holes with the Tier 2 guys. That gives the team the best chance of success. Hell, that's how we got to the Super Bowl a few year's back.
