Bengals release Sheldon Rankins

Aside from being a decent DE until accumulated injuries have caught up with him, Sam is also a fiery leader of the team and a model citizen. I feel like the team will by sympathetic to his situation and offer him to restructure and stay on to see if he can bounce back.

Besides that, the team wasted, err I mean invested a 1st round pick in Myles Murphy to be the heir apparent to Hubbard. I predict that with Murphy heading into his 3rd season, the management will want to see him in the starting role to begin the season, as they will have to make a decision upon his 5th year option at the conclusion of next season. They will likely view keeping Hubbard around as insurance in case Murphy can't cut the mustard. And let's face it, they're not going to find better than Hubbard for his salary or less, and they likely don't want to bring in a guy that would likely beat out Murphy as the starter from the jump.

I would think they might wait cutting the next round of players. We don't really know what these new coaches or coordinator want.
