Yes it looks like they lose $31 million in cap space but frees up actual cash (around $15 million is what I saw). I don’t pretend to understand how all of that works.
No doubt they wanted him gone as that is a huge amount of dead $/cap space to give up but it also helps them free up cash for Purdy. Not even sure Purdy will be worth it in the end but time will tell.
