You asked me what the Commanders looked like this time last year, and my answer is they looked like they had two Pro Bowl DTs to build around and they spent money to do so. That's an actual building block for a defense, and yes, you do need a couple actually good players to build around. You have a bunch of bad/mediocre/okay players and it doesn't matter how much communication and doing the right things you have if you don't have some good players.

They were the 32nd ranked defense with those players. The turnaround in contribution was not due to Allen, who they just cut.
