I don't know that this proves they're incompetent. I think they just won't pay top dollar. They set a figure and won't exceed it. Most franchises don't operate that way.

The interesting thing is that if you won't give latge extensions once guys hit 30, then there should be more urgency.

Let's face it, if they were nailing draft picks...this wouldn't matter. Murphy was likely drafted with an eye on replacing Treys production. He just had 0 sacks last year. Drafting or developing guys is where they're failing.
