We are likely looking at a TE or edge player being BPA at 17.
If the Edge player is really good I wouldn't mind staying put and drafting him.
TE would certainly be a pick I would welcome but it isn't a dire need and it could mean we miss out on positions we do need.
Trading down to the bottom of the 1st could net us an extra 2nd and we'd be in prime spot to draft a promising guard with either of the picks we receive in the trade.
I just did a quick mock and tested this. I ended up with DT Grant at 28 and Edge Nic Scourton at 49.
Then I added G Ratledge with our 2nd rounder and Edge Bradyn Swinson with our 3rd.
Pretty solid and I was looking at corner or Safety in the 4th.
If there is a draft to move down in this is likely it. You look at the grades and there's a steep decline for about ten picks and then it just levels out for about 45-55 picks. So, literally some teams might have a low 2nd round grade on a guy only to find that same guy in the mid 1st round for another team. We pick up another 2nd somehow and we could get a really good player. Even a high 3rd might yield a high value player.
