Hendrickson Draft Day Trade
#2
Rd. 1 - 17th Selection:

Mike Green - DE - Marshall - 6'3" 251

With their first round selection the Bengals get younger at the edge by taking The Marshall Menace Mike Green. Green was a finalist for the Ted Hendricks Award which is given to the best DE in the nation. Green ended his junior campaign by leading the FBS with 17 sacks and was second in the FBS for TFL with 22.5. Green has displayed the ability to play the edge with power or with finesse thru a variety of pass rush moves. Green plays with suddenness, physicality, and violence. The knocks on Green are much the same as the knocks on Hendrickson when he came out of college and they all center around stature and length. Just as those qualities have not hampered Hendrickson, I do not believe they will impede Green either.

Nick Emmanwori - S - S. Carolina - 6'3" 220

To call his measurables elite could be a bit of an understatement. Aside from the freakish size and speed Emmanwori also possesses elite ball skills. We have seen the Bengals be consistently beaten by the top TEs in the NFL and this selection could go a long way in helping to stem this weakness. Coaches will need to stay on this young man to insure he consistently plays with fire but he possesses the abilities to be a year in and year out Pro Bowl caliber safety at the NFL level. His coverage ability and physicality should bring a presence to the backend of the defense that fans have wanted to see for sometime.

Rd. 2 - 55th Selection:

Donovan Jackson - G - The Ohio State - 6'4" 315

Jackson risked hurting his draft stock by moving out to LT for the Buckeyes due to injury. However, his performance at a position he had not played elevated his stock and showed him to be a very talented player as well as a great teammate. It is not a secret that the Bengals need serious improvement on the interior of their offensive line and this should be an immediate upgrade. He has the prototypical OG build with good length for playing inside. He is not a road grader but he looks to finish on every block he makes. Really good anchor inside as well as excellent leg drive and power to move defenders. Jackson plays with excellent technique and brings elite character to the locker room.

Rd. 3 - 81st Selection:

Jack Bech - WR - TCU - 6'1" 214

The Bengals add another LSU WR to the roster by way of TCU. Bech made the transfer to TCU and lit up the field for the Horned Frogs. Bech brings a physicality to the WR position that is special. Bech plays with elite focus, body control, and hands. Has shown the abilities to play inside or out and could wind up as the slot presence that the Bengals lacked with the departure of Tyler Boyd but this in no way diminishes his ability to play outside either much like Boyd. He does not have great suddenness or quickness so he will have to continue to play with and improve his technique which has been what has made him such a productive target to this point.

Rd. 4 - 119th Selection:

Charles Grant - G - William & Mary - 6'5" 311

Grant has shown to be a highly consistent presence on the offensive line and is touted for his excellence in technique. Grant played LT at the collegiate level but will look to make the move to the interior at the NFL level. Grant may need to bulk up a bit but that should not be an issue with an NFL weight and nutrition program. When the NFL is looking at lower division players they are looking for that guy that dominated his opponents and that is exactly what Grant did. The step up in competition will need to be closely monitored but his elite length on the interior should be a true asset in him keeping linemen at bay.

The Bengals may need to look to Cody Ford or Jaxson Kirkland early on at RG but Grant should be a long term solution for them on the interior.

Rd. 4 - 130th Selection:

Jacob Parrish - CB - K State - 5'10" 191

Parrish is average height for the position but is extremely fluid and brings elite long speed to the field. While he is average height he has good length and plays with outstanding technique. While he is not considered a force against the run, when you watch film on him you will see a guy that is willing and does not hesitate to stick his nose in there. Parrish should immediately push every corner on the Bengals roster.

Rd. 5 - 153rd Selection:

Billy Bowman Jr. - S - Oklahoma - 5'10" 192

If you want to play safety for the Bengals you better bring your "A" game to the field. The only thing that keeps Bowman from being considered an elite safety prospect in this draft is his stature. While stature may be in question he compares well to Tyrann Mathieu in his abilities. Mathieu came into the league as a more physical tackler than Bowman but the ball skills of Bowman may well be better than those of Mathieu. Bowman is an absolute ball hawk who shows very natural and elite instincts for the game which has produced 11 INTs for him at the collegiate level.

Rd. 6 - 193rd Selection:

Quincy Riley - CB - Louisville - 5'11" 194

Riley was a productive cover player for the Cardinals and has very good recovery speed. Has displayed good hips and fluidity in coverage. He will need to continue to hone his awareness and continue to be a student of the game but brings a very solid foundation of skills to the NFL.

Rd. 6 - 199th Selection:

Howard Cross III - DT - Notre Dame - 6'1" 285

The Bengals bring in a player that Golden is very familiar with in Cross. The Bengals look to have a very strong interior D line with Hill, Slaton, Jenkins, and Jackson but Cross brings an interesting skillset to the interior of the line on passing downs. While undersized he plays with excellent explosion, first step, twitch, and fluidity. While he may not overpower offensive linemen his explosion and instincts can prove difficult to counter in pass protection. He may not add a three down presence but Golden may look to use him as pass rush specialist on the interior.
