I would argue the difference with a band wagon fan is a BWF decides to root for whatever team is winning.
I haven't changed my allegiance, just sometimes choose not to invest time watching the team if I'm not entertained.

I grew up in Cincy and started watching them in 2005, been rooting for them ever since.
Just because I don't watch some games doesn't mean I don't root for them when the season starts anew.

You say you don't watch much sports, but I watch hockey, baseball, and tennis along with Bengals football.
I grew up playing hockey.
Trying to watch every game of every team I'm a fan of would be way too time-consuming.
Plus I do other things aside from watching sports.

It's ok though.
You do what you wanna do, I'll do what I want to.
I don't criticize you for what or how you choose to support the Bengals, so don't do it to me.
