1975? Oh yes, I remember like it was yesterday. That was the second year I ever went to live games at Riverfront Stadium. At the time I didn’t understand I was seeing the greatest team in baseball history play in front of my own eyes — but it sank in. The year before I was in the stadium the day Hank Aaron hit #714 off Jack Billingham to tie Babe Ruth — and every Reds fan in the stadium was proud of Hank. I will never forget where I was when Hank hit #715 against the Dodgers’ Al Downing. I was at my aunt‘s house in Portsmouth. As a point of trivia, Al Downing was in spring training with the Reds the following season but did not make the team.

Sorry, Vin Scully, but Marty Brennaman and Joe Nuxhall were the best radio announcers in all of baseball.
