The lack of sack production is an obvious concern. On top of that, he has a problem with tackling/finishing plays. He’s a guy who is always ‘almost’ there, always just a step too late.
However I watch the tape and I see why scouts are intrigued. He plays hard and has a high motor, which is interesting considering that having a high motor and low sack numbers don’t usually go hand in hand. He did however have 33 hurries last year so there maybe some validity to being disruptive but not showing on the stat sheet. And I’m not one to put a lot of stock in combine numbers but his strength and athleticism pop on tape. He is a very talented project in my opinion. In the end, I just think he needs a lot of refining and Al Golden has a lot on his plate already. With our track record lately and the other talent that is likely to be on the board, I think he’s just too risky.
Hear what you're saying and don't disagree
There's been many good athletes at many different positions, WR comes to mind quickly, that just don't have good football instincts. Don't possess the football killer instinct. And in some cases I believe just don't really have a true "love for the game". They can jump high and run fast with quick reflexes etc. But they're just not really cut out for the gridiron.
Perhaps he's one of these? We probably don't need another project that may of may not develop. (MURPHY)
